Welcome to 89 DAYS!
"Monday May 14th 1787 was the day fixed for the meeting of the deputies in Convention for revising the federal system of Government. On that day a small number only had assembled. Seven States were not convened till, Friday 25 of May..."
This was the first entry into James Madison's journal of
NOTES ON THE DEBATES IN THE FEDERAL CONVENTION OF 1787.
Please join me - for 89 DAYS in the next four months - in reading each days entries in James Madison's Notes on the Debates in the Federal Convention of 1787.
Do you think you have to go to law school to understand the Constitution? Balderdash!
Read each days notes from now until September 17, 1787 and - not only will you understand what the Constitution DOES say - you will also understand a great many things that were proposed which the Constitution does NOT say!
The Constitution is NOT an "ideal" document: it was, from the outset, a compromise through and through.
But what was the argument? Read on!
(As the purpose of the Convention was ...well, as it was supposed to be ..."for revising teh federal system of Government" - meaning the Articles of Confederation under which the 13 original states were governed at that time: I would encourage all of you to read, or re-visit, the ARTICLES OF CONFEDERATION between now and May 25th!)

My apologies everyone! Before you have to tell me, please let me assure you... I am fully aware that the audio on this post s#cks!
This is my FIRST venture into podcasting. I'm using a computer with VISTA and ...well, I haven't been able to get a good Video Blogging Software Program that works with Vista. There's that and, of course, the fact that - while the lens on my webcam is not so bad, the built-in microphone leaves a great deal to be desired.
Rest assured: the quality of these videos will progress - and progress quickly - as time goes by.
Thanks Again!,
James
